what an eventful weekend Part One

Ok so to update from my last post... hehe

I went to warped tour, got in, walked around, helped carry equip etc. Then my cell phone rang. It was Gregory from the prodigals asking/telling me to meet up with the band in Sherman New York. They finally straightened out the guest list issue (which I had already given up on) I had a little over 8 hours to get there. So I left Verizon headed home and packed quickly and started the drive. Due to construction and other hold ups it took almost 8 hours to get there and it was only 400 some odd miles. Grrr should have made it in 6 1/2 and thats doing the speed limit... har har. So I find myself at the Starrwood Pagan Festival in Sherman New York :)

So after a minute or two of culture shock and disorganized registration, I was in and helping the prodigals load in. I found a place to camp and realized that in my rush to load the car I had forgotten my tent poles. Argh. But one of the event organizers let me use one of the "extra" performer tents. *yay*

The band right before the prodigals played about an hour over their allotted time but were really good!! They sounded a lot like dead can dance (Damn just realized I forgot to pick up a cd) the band, Inkus, was really good so it wasnt necessarily a bad thing that they played over.. then we got the prodigals up on stage and everyone loved them. It was great, I am not sure how the guys felt about being there as they had never been to a festival like that. And I can only imagine the shock as they watched half of the audience danceing sky clad.... hehe it was actually kinda funny to see their reactions.

After their show we headed over to the "round house" which is a huge round structure that was kinda like a huge tepee without a cover, and it had a bunch of people drumming and dancing around around the fire pit in the middle. Calling it the fire pit is a bit of an understatement as it was bigger then most bonfires!! I left after about an hour due to lack of sleep and just good old exhaustion.

That concludes day one... he he day two coming soon.

DOOD! Starwood! I'm at the Brushwood campgrounds (generally) every year with the Church of The SubGenius! We get to watch them set up for Starwood. The roundhouse is always going with something and the people who own the campgrounds are about the nicest people in the whole world.

I love that place.
